ELLIS PATENTS SECURES KAZAKHSTAN ORDER
The UK’s largest dedicated cable cleat manufacturer, Ellis Patents has secured a major order for its Emperor cleats to be used in one of the world’s biggest new oil projects – the multi-billion dollar Kashagan Project in Kazakhstan.
The oil field, which is believed to be the most important oil discovery in the world in the last 40 years1, is being developed by the Kazakhstan North Caspian Operating Company NV (Agip KCO) – a consortium that includes the likes of Exxon Mobil, Royal Dutch / Shell, Total, ConocoPhillips and Japanese Inpex. When operational, it is anticipated that the development will produce 1.2million barrels of oil every day.
Richard Shaw, managing director of Ellis Patents, said: “The scale of the Kashagan Project needs to be seen to be believed, but I wouldn’t be wrong if I was to refer to it as one of the single largest development projects in the world today. Therefore, the importance of this order can not be understated. Especially as we are confident that once used the quality of our Emperor cleats will be enough to ensure many subsequent orders for the duration of the project.”
Available for trefoil and single cable applications, Ellis Patents’ Emperor cable cleats are designed for use where the highest levels of short circuit withstand are required. Additionally, all products in the range are manufactured in type 316 stainless steel, meaning they provide ultimate corrosion protection, even in the harshest of environments.
The benefits of the Emperor cleats also extend to a unique, patented design, which makes installation quick and easy, and an integral LSF zero halogen polymeric liner and base pad that protects and cushions cables during short circuit conditions.
“The Emperor range is the crème de la crème of cable cleats,” continued Richard Shaw. “It is designed and manufactured to the very highest specifications so that it can deliver the highest level of short circuit withstand in the most testing of environments – a fact clearly demonstrated by its use in the Kashagan Project.”
The order for Ellis Patents’ Emperor cleats was placed through Sea Star International, its distributor in Kazakhstan.
